Pragmatic Play Quietly Cut Off US Sweepstakes Casinos

Pragmatic Play stopped licensing its games to US sweepstakes operators a year ago, and titles like Gates of Olympus are disappearing from lobbies as legacy licenses expire. Regulators are starting to go after game studios, not just casinos.

Noticed Gates of Olympus or Sweet Bonanza missing from your sweepstakes casino lately? That’s not a glitch on your operator’s end. Pragmatic Play, one of the biggest slot studios in the business, stopped licensing its titles to US sweepstakes platforms back in September 2025, after a Los Angeles civil enforcement action named the studio itself as a defendant — not the casinos running its games, the developer that built them. A few platforms are still showing the titles under old agreements, and those are supposed to wind down through the rest of this year.

That’s a bigger deal than the coverage around it has suggested, because it’s a genuinely different kind of pressure than what this fight has run on so far. Every regulatory battle over sweepstakes casinos up to now has gone after the operators — Chumba, LuckyLand, whichever brand name is next on a state ban list. An operator can rebrand, relaunch under a new LLC, shuffle its geofencing and mostly keep going. A studio the size of Pragmatic Play walking away from the whole category means every platform running its games loses access at once, and there’s no workaround for that.

Pragmatic Play isn’t some fringe name either. Its slots run in licensed, regulated casinos in New Jersey and Pennsylvania right alongside the sweepstakes lobbies it just left. So this wasn’t about the games themselves being unfair or unsafe. It was a company deciding the regulated-market revenue was worth protecting and the sweepstakes revenue wasn’t worth the legal risk anymore. A supplier that size making that call is worth paying attention to.

For players the effect is slow rather than sudden — legacy titles thinning out through the rest of 2026 rather than vanishing overnight. But it’s a preview. If going after suppliers keeps working better than going after operators, expect a few more studios to make the same call Pragmatic Play did, and probably a lot faster than a year-long wind-down.
